When the Boss Is Away…

Poll results from employee assistance provider ComPsych show that most workers say they are not affected by their boss being out of the office. Nearly one-quarter of respondents said they actually work harder while the boss is away.

“The survey proves what smart managers have known all along,” says Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, ComPsych., ComPsych’s chairman and CEO. “Micro-managing is not effective and employees perform and excel when they have a healthy work environment, clear-cut expectations and goals and the right support from their managers.”

Employees who were asked the question – Do you get more or less work done when your boss is away? – answered:
Same: 75 percent
More: 23 percent
Less: 2 percent
