Help Is on the Line

Employee assistance programs have become a staple in many companies’ benefits packages. These programs allow employees and their household members to help manage issues that could adversely impact their work and personal lives. Typically, EAP counselors provide assessment, support and referrals to additional resources.

At Chicago-based ComPsych, guidance consultants receive numerous phone calls a day from employees needing assistance with a variety of issues, such as counseling, wellness coaching, and financial, legal and work-life help. ComPsych’s goal is to provide organizations with cutting-edge solutions that attract and retain employees and afford significant cost savings and improved organizational efficiency. Additionally, EAPs often result in lower medical costs, reduced turnover and absenteeism, and higher employee productivity and morale.

“The best part of my job has to be knowing that I’m a part of a team of professionals that provides a service that helps people every day,” said David Pawlowski, a guidance consultant with ComPsych. “It’s a free, confidential way for employees and their family members to get help for the types of personal problems that affect us all from time to time. We are able to help individuals improve and enrich their lives, while helping our customers preserve and protect their greatest asset – their employees.”
