March 16, 2009MSN MoneyComPsych: Workplace Atmosphere ‘Panicky’If you’re feeling “panicky” about your job, you are not alone. A new survey released by ComPsych Corp. finds 16 percent of those questioned said their work atmosphere felt “panicky” as a result of the economy. “Workers are shouldering more work due to layoffs, and finding it difficult not to be distracted by future uncertainties,” said Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, chairman and CEO of ComPsych. “We have seen a record number of calls for on-site counselors due to layoffs, as well as requests for ongoing stress management counseling.” The majority of those asked (39 percent) said they were somewhat worried, while 23 percent said it felt like business as usual. Fourteen percent said they were cautiously optimistic. ComPsych provides global employee assistance programs. |
