ComPsych® Corp. Announces Health at WorkSM Award Winners: GE, The MITRE Corp., HNI Corp. and Roberts Communications


CHICAGO – Sept. 8, 2008 – ComPsych recently announced the winners of the fourth-annual Health at Work Award. Gold winners included GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services, HNI Corporation, The MITRE Corporation and Roberts Communications, and there were 18 Silver awards given. Winners were selected based on their wellness program's comprehensiveness, delivery, promotion, participation rates and results achieved. ComPsych Corporation is the world's largest provider of employee assistance programs and worldwide leader in GuidanceResources (EAPs, behavioral health, wellness, work-life and crisis intervention services).

Some highlights of the Health at Work Award winners' health and wellness programs include:

  • "Lunch laps" around a company track and other on-site promotions such as The Biggest Loser
  • The use of "lifestyle monitors" which measure metabolic expenditure and dietary intake
  • Cooking classes to teach easy and quick methods for healthy eating
  • The implementation of tobacco-free workplaces as a result of state- and citywide smoking bans
  • Regionally targeted programs (i.e., indoor exercise promotion for Midwest locations, and skin cancer prevention campaigns for coastal locations)
  • The inclusion of families in wellness activities, from fitness camps to membership at on-site company gyms
  • Promotion of increased fruit and vegetable intake through partnership with local farmers' markets and health-focused grocery stores such as Whole Foods
  • Encouraging a virtual culture of wellness with online assessments, tips, tracking calories/exercise and management of points/incentives
