Organizations are increasingly focused on containing costs and improving efficiencies. As part of these efforts, benefits programs are being intensely scrutinized. There is a trend in the industry for health plans to offer “free” EAP/work-life services, promoted as a value-add for the customer. However, organizations looking to truly contain costs and improve efficiencies should take a close look at what is being offered, and what risks are involved in offering employees a bare-bones EAP.
